Suresh Dominic
Suresh Dominic is a retired IT professional who spent 35 years working for companies such as Informatics, John Keells, and Interblocks. He is now a collector of art and artefacts and resides in an apartment complex in Colombo where he occupies four apartments to house his collection.
Dominic's interest in art began while studying in the UK, where he would visit museums, galleries, and stately homes. His mother was a collector of artefacts, and his aunt was an avid art collector. Dominic began acquiring art in the mid-nineties, and his collection has since grown to include established artists and those with potential.
Dominic believes that art is an excellent financial investment and hopes that someone will start an art fund that curates collections for investment, which would promote the local art market. Dominic is a patron of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka, a trustee of the George Keyt Foundation, and a council member of the University of Visual and Performing Art.
His home gallery is filled with an extensive collection of Sri Lankan art, from classic to contemporary pieces. And his love for art goes beyond its monetary value, as he is fascinated by the creativity and hidden meanings in each painting. His collection has been growing for 25 years, and he takes pride in knowing the artists behind each piece.
